LB Killens works out with 49ers

The 49ers held a workout Tuesday for seven-year veteran linebacker Terry Killens, who led them last season in special-teams tackles with 25. Killens, 28, appeared in three games this season for Seattle.

To sign Killens, the 49ers would have to release another player from their 53-man roster. He is eligible to be signed -- and would be eligible to play in Sunday's playoff game at Tampa Bay -- because he was not on any team's roster at the end of the regular season.

In other news Tuesday, the 49ers signed rookie tackle Austin Lee to their practice squad. Lee played college football at Stanford, and this is the third time this season he's been signed to the 49ers' practice squad.
